Hi all I am fishing the comp for the first time this year , I always wanted to fish it and now my turn finally arrived.
I'll be fishing from my boat with my old friends antie Petro and uncle Lucas .
They have fished the comp 7 times , so I have some experienced crew aboard .
Butt you can never have enough knowledge so if any body could give any advise I'd be much obliged .
We will target couta mainly .
I am from richards bay and I know these waters like my 2 feet .
Always wanted to fish Durban.

Thanks guys ::tight:

1 what live bait is best ? Live bait, what ever is available.
.2 what traces is best? STD Natal couta trace
.3 where to get live bait using sabikis or zuris? Do a search, there is bait marks here. They will give you a list with the bait waypoints at the briefing.
.4 down rig the livies or not ? Down rig to the bottom. One a bit higher.
5 troll slow or drift ? Very slow troll. 1 motor in gear.

Yip that time of year again...400 boats all chasing couta...unfortunately there are hardly any about so if you get one you are in with a chance of a prize nowadays. its still a jol and a good excuse to spend two days on the water. re your questions...
Bait spots: Normally included in the programme but otherwise follow the other boats since Durban is spoilt when it comes to good bait spots. (barge, fonteo, multiple wrecks/containers, just left/right of harbour entrance etc. Mozzies/shad/mackerel all at those spots and work well.
The answers to all your other questions are... they will all work so mix it up. First day the launch time is the main problem since you get going so late and miss the best time for couta... so get bait in the water asap I reckon.

should be but I wouldn't leave it too late unless you relaxed about whether or not they close entries....There is a second boat (Insured sealed weight prize) this year so I was just worried about it filling up which is why I am pre entered instead of leaving it to the actual registration day.
