attaching traces to slides??

Evening guys.

I just wanted to ask for some advice regarding some of my shark traces...

Most of my traces are connected to swivels not to my slides but I was hoping someone could tell me if there's perhaps a easy way of just clipping on my shark trace to my slide without having to cut the swivel off and then re-joining it to a slide.

I know that most clips are weaker as a bronzie could possibly pop the clip.

Wanted to know by u guys if there's a faster alternative?

Thanks::tight:

Don't know what the pound rating on a 1.6mm swannel clip is but if you can open one of those...eish.. :) There are also offshore clips that they use for big gamefish but don't know them so cannot vouch for them. I'm not a shark-fisherman but sure they'll pop past.

Pottie I he wants to have an array of traces that can be clipped to a slide, in otherwords tie all the traces and use as casting or clip to a slide as required.

Centro have some really small but really strong clips used for Tuna and Marlin work that would work perfectly for your application (if I am understanding your question correctly)

Centro has swivels and clips rated to over 600lbs, anything over 200lbs is fine for slide rigs
http://www.rapalasa.co.za/products/browse.php?brand=centro&top_cat=toolsacc&prodgroup_parent=swivels

Then there are Kingfisher products including the double lock snaps

If you were to go this way then I would rather recommend you get a 4X strong Split ring in the 300-400lbs class can use it to connect your trace to your slide.

Personally...... make as few as possible potential weak spots in your rigs so rather tie the shark rig open ended and then either tie a swivel or a slide with a 3 turn figure 8 in the manner needed, ie slide or cast or swim rig

Okay yeah I think you're right Enigma! Thanks alot, its probably better to just attach trace to slide or swivel.

I also agree with the fact that if I were to use a clip i'd be creating another weak spot in my trace, personally im trying to stick to my throwbaits but at times the baits are so big it takes getting some used to when casting with my /4 purglass lol.

Oh yeah sorry one question I wanted to ask u guys. In your experience does bronzies lay far out in the surf break? Or do they also come look for a meal closer to shore as other species? I heard that at night they actually come unbelievably close to shore but I cant just take people's word for it if they last caught a bronzie like 5 years ago lol::tight:::tight:
