Boat ID

Hi all,

Can someone help me ID this boat. I bought it recently and am going to start refurbishing it. What I know/have been told so far...

16 foot long
Removable Cabin
Inboard Jet Motor (used to be a Chev apparently)
Possibly a "Sting", made in Zimbabwe and used as a Patrol Boat

Any info will be greatly appreciated as well as advice on restoring the trailer and hull, motor choice and a place to buy accessories that won't cost me an arm and a leg. (rod holders, cup holders, gauges, fuel tank and fuel accessories etc.)

There is a guy on Gamtoos river that has one, spoke to him the other day and he confirmed as well they were made in Zim.

Have you got any pics of it with the cabin attached etc?

fstf roller,

Thanks for your reply.

Perhaps you get a chance to chat to that guy on the Gamtoos again, please try get some pics of his boat?

If you could pick his brain about his boat I would very much appreciate it. I have never ever seen another one of these boats and Google doesn't even have a pic of them. I would love to know what he has done and what motor he put on his.

Here are a few more pics...

I will if I see him again for sure, his one does not have the removable cabin though, he has had suzuki's 115 and 140 on it, he currently has a 150 Honda on it.

Below are some pics of the same boat i got of Gumtree, this is not his boat though, his boat is a beige and brown color.

Thanks a stack! I like the spare wheel mount on this boat. My trailer will be a bit more sturdy though with bigger wheels and tyres and probably a 1.8 ton braked axle. Need it good and strong for getting up to the Zambezi for tigerfish. All of a sudden my 115hp idea seems a bit small now looking at that monster motor which is fitted there.

Best of luck man, keep me posted on the project, would love to see the final product, you planning on using on zambezi only?

Thanks. No not only on the Zambezi, want to check out Pongola/Jozini, maybe a few rivers and estuaries. Maybe start competing in the freshwater boat competitions. Was also considering joining the bass tour. The waters are plenty!

Could you possibly send me the link for that boat you found on Gumtree please? I looked now but couldn't see it off my phone.

Will post pics of the build as I go along. Will be starting in about 10 days or so when I get back to SA.

Hi guys and girls,

So now I have started the rebuild on the boat after completing the trailer in December/January. Here is how she is looking so far. Still don't have any confirmation on the exact manufacturer of the hull or the origins thereof.
