Hi Guys

Its been rather quite around here so i decided to and so chow!

I was just thinking of all the stuff i've read about on the forum and have decided that this is the menue for winkels!

1. Mutton bunny for breakfast. Hope i find a good bunny place before registration.

2. Midmorning snack- Shad on the grill- fresh shad cleaned and scaled, spiced with salt and pepper and filled with slices of onion and tomato and fresh green chilli thinley sliced wrapped in foil and put on the coals.

3. Lunch- Im thinking lucky Star Pilchards (The Hot One) with fresh white bread and sparletta sparberry.

4. Late afternoon- Snow Ball and milk

5. Evening Chow- Hopefully couta if not settle for some chops and sausages on the  braai after a hards days fishing!

P.S with all that kinda chow dont forget the immodium! hee hee

Suggestion..........

How about arranging for a big pot of mutton and/or chicken breyani, and sell it for Rxx.00 per head on the day. Even most of us wit o'es like breyani.

Any takers or ideas?

PS: I'm a bit of a curry king and fanatic, but I still can't make a good breyani (too mushy). Someones mum's/wife's foolproof recipe would be appreciated.......!

Hi guys

One of the foolproof method of making brehani for a MALE is to use a pokie pot..it is easy can you will be suprised at the results.

Basics as follows...No 3 Pot

Meat approx 1 kg...brown in pot and leave one side

Brown about 4 meduim onions with a 2 tablespoon of crushed ginger/garlic +3teaspoons of salt

Add mixure of 2teapoons of Chillipower/2 teaspoons curry power...others bay leaves ..card pods anyother spice you want...together with 4 diced tomatoes without skin

Add the meat and mix

Add washed rice 1cup

Add Washed lentils 1/2 cup

Add washed rice 1 cup

Add Washed Lentils !/2 cup

Note you must layer this

Add 250 ml of water soaked in a few threads of saffron

The beauty part of this system is that ir works,,,as soon as the rice is cooked ..take it off thye flame...coals must be low...slow cook about 3 hours...fail safe method for men

Hi khani

No problem ..we can do it for the comp ..but i dont think a number 3 pot will feed 50 guys.

Unless you want me cooking for 9 hours at a stretch without any fishing.

You're a star.:dude:

I'll try it for sure......except I'll soak the saffron in the water rather!

How long before adding the rice and lentils. I suppose mutton will take longer than Chicken.

I'll add this to the recipe section!

Cheers

Hi

Mj

Once you statred you just continue....there is no need to wait ....as you finish one step ..y go to the next...after browning the meat..you need not wait to the rice/lentils...I have used this recipe for lamb, chicken(cornish)and fish.....you can add some groung mint during the spice stage for additonal flavour.
