New SA Rekord bass caught this morning. Measuring 68cm and weighing in at 7.192kg, Angler Wayne Naude

What I saw it was caught at Loskop and the fish was safely released. So a double bonus for the angler!

The fish was caught during a competition on Loskop Dam. The angler is well known for catching big Barbel and Bass in Loskop. He has been selected to represent SA in Artlure fishing for the World Preditor fishing championships to be hosted at Loskop next year in February. He has caught many bass over 4Kg in Loskop the last few seasons. The fish itself did not really put up a big fight and was landed very quickly. The angler himself was quite surprised when the weigh-inn official read out the weight to him. The specie and the weight was confirmed by a nature conservation person present. The angler also released the fish back into the water in a healthy state as can be seen on the video that was posted on him releasing the fish. Can just mention that another angler caught a 6.3kg bass on the day before the competition in the same area of the dam.

Vet vis, dit is net jammer hulle het dit teruggesit.  Ek is seker daarvan dat daar 'n verbod is by Loskopdam om enige karp of baars wat gevang word weer in die water vry te laat.
