Boss Whisper Braid

Or its too new for guys to have an opinion... Only came out late last year!

I have seen and felt it and it seems pretty good. If you go on the Boss braid reputation, which in my opinion is very good, I would say its a solid line.

Of course, you have the option of buying a roll, testing it and then telling us how it is ;)

By all accounts, Boss braid gets good reviews ...

First there was the Skinny version (advertised at 0.23mm diam for the 50lb test), then came the Slick (advertised at 0.29mm diam for the 50lb), and now the Whisper (advertised at 0.32mm diam for the 50lb.
Google "Boss braid" and also check out their Facebook page - lots of satisfied users ...

Slick was 0.39mm actual and was 65lbs
Skinny was 0.36 actual and is 50lbs
Whisper is 0.36 actual with better weave and coating and is 50lbs

The 80lbs and up on all of them are way understated

Good Braid for it's price and I'd say the Skinny is similar in Charachteristics to Grinder as something to compare with

I've only used the really thin Whisper for Ultralite spinning and it's a value for money alternative to mant braids out there

Other than that I stick to my locally manufactured HMP braid

I bought the 50lbs Slick braid today. Cant seem to tie a bimini knot that breaks above 30lbs. I use at least 40turns on the bimini knot. The braid does not snap on the knot it snaps in the middle...anyone have the same experience?

Breaks in the middle of the knot or in the middle of the main braid.

Bimini is the worst knot for Braid. Especially if you twist it tight.

50lbs Whiplash breaks at 22lbs if a tight Bimini is tied in it.

Take a piece of 100lb or more braided leader of about 1m and tie the two ends of the mainline, which you want to join, to that piece of braided leader using an FG.
That is obviously for joining braid backing to your braided topshot.

Breaks in the middle of the line not the knot. I make 1 x bimini on each side, hook 1 side to a meat hook and other side to my scale. When I reach 30lbs it feels as if something gives and the breads starts to stetch and then it breaks. Thank you for the info glad I tried it quite shocking results. What knot would you suggest?

I use Boss Skinny, Slick and Grinder braid. I must say Grinder feels softer for me and no problems so for. Boss Whisper is on my list but haven't tried it yet.
Enigma what would your opinion be about the 2 braids....Boss and Grinder?
You say Whispher is more like Grinder, so should i stick to Grinder or give Whisper a go?
Any advise would be great guys.
Thank you

Little bit off topic, I have been fishing hmp 35lb and 50lb now for 2 years and had no issues with it and it is affordable and a local product

Some feedback on this. Tied ENIGMA's stitched knot and my problems were solved. Thank you for the info on the knot ENIGMA!

Thanks for the feedback Washburn, always great when members try something new and then report back on the results

Hi Guys!

I've had 30lb Boss Whisper now on my Sustain 10k for almost a year and I have had no issues. The braid hasn't started fraying like some brands, its still smooth and also didn't loose colour.

I tie all my leaders with the FG and haven't had any issues. The FG if you practice it is actually much easier to tie that the other braid to mono knots out there!

Tight lines!

0.32mm dia is dead on for an 8 strand braid that has an actual BS of 50lb.
PE fibre's strength to weight ratio dictate this.
Unless of course a braid is made from unobtanium....

So you guys reckon the Whisper braid is pretty close to its stated rating and diameter?
I've been fishing with the slick 40lb for 3 years now and it's still good as new.
Obviously the coating has worn off a bit, but still smooth and has not frayed yet.

Digging up an old thread here, but thought I would add my 2c.

Been using different Boss Braids for quite a few years now, I have the 8lb 3 strand finesse on my feeder setups, 15lb slick on my carp setups, 20lb slick on my artlure kits and 30 to 50lb on my catfish setups. Can honestly say that it is one of the better braids I have used. It casts a mile, is soft through the eyes of the rods and makes strong knots. The slick braids still looks as good as the day I spooled it (2 years ago with regular sessions), same story with the finesse which I use weekly with hundreds of casts per session.

Definitely a braid I would recommend
