New Dropshot Rod

Good day all Sealiners.

Yes, I know this is the wrong section. Should be in the dropshot section but only three posts there for the whole 2020 and only one this year! Obviously a dead section, hence my post here.

I currently have an Assassin Tempest Heavy, up to 1 ounce, rod which I use for dropshot. No problems with this rod. Great for it's purpose and weight range/ length.

I would however like a rod that can cast slightly bigger lures, and cast a bit further. I know that Assassin had an Aurora rod rated at 2 ounce and 9 foot, which might have been perfect. These are however no longer available. Looks like they made one batch only... Yes I have spoken to Assassin and they don't have any, nor planning on bringing more onto the market. They did however offer to contact their tackle shop customers and see if anyone had one hidden away. Great service.

Can anyone recommend a similar or suitable rod? Looking for something that can cast bigger lures, handle bigger fish, and cast a mile.

I have a original Amia, with the microwave guides, rated at 1.5 ounce and a L&F Archipelago, rated at 3 ounce, both 11 foot. Looking for something between these two and the Tempest. Or is there a better rod length/ casting weight?

Budget R2000. R2500 if really a good buy. Recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dr.

Didn't think of that. All these lockdowns and curfews have made me blonde...

Just checked prices and availability of the Archipelago 10 foot. Which brought me to another option that I didn't think of. For a few R100 more I can get a Aerocast. I know that they might be a few years older from a technical viewpoint but what's your thoughts?

Thanks

The Assassin Amia in a 9ft or Diawa Exceller elite in 9vt6 are both great rods.
Have used them with great success for shad, garrick and cob.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I haven't had an opportunity to get to the tackle shops yet but have been doing my homework on the internet.

Seen some positive articles on the new Okuma rods. But you never know who is sponsored or paid by Okuma to do these reviews so has anybody here actually used them?

Thanks

Seen a brand new aerocast snap at the spigot in a cast where the guy was really folding the rod over, it was brand brand new..Didn't know it was a known issue though?
