Hi All,

I'm on the lookout for fishing apparel.
Where do you buy?
I'm stuck in the kalahari so I would have to buy online or if some brother are willing to help another out.

Cheers
Exavier

I recall a discussion about this on one of the fishing sites..I know Columbia sells quality but that comes at a cost...According to that discussion there are other cheaper options available out there...

p.s:found it,it's on the Ultimate angling site under 'fishing apparel'...hope it's usefull...

Thank you.
I did read through the discussion.
My Columbia shirts have served me for many years and I do believe that you get what you paid for. Palagic also nice but columbia still best.
I bought a Johnsons also but does not come close. I like the cooling system and the spf factors of columbia not to mention the comfort.

I will have a look at the specials on the online store.
Thanks.

Columbia is top quality and they have put a lot of time and effort into selecting the correct material and design for fishing clothes (and oversized their fit to make the larger among us feel good about themselves ).

Although the classic long sleeve choler shirt are still popular you will see a lot of the guides moving to polyester hoodies and buffs because it just protects the soft bits around the neck and face better. None of those little diamond shaped sunburns on you upper chest...

Yes, I have looked at the hoodies.
Very nice but also very expensive.. Thinking of getting one or two.
The Pelagic hoodies is also very nice.
My skin do not do well with the sun after years of abuse.
That's the reason I need to look at proper clothing and spf factors.

SPF factor is one of the reasons why material quality is so important. SPF ratings are done on new material and some producers will take short cuts on material quality to increase the initial SPF factor but after a few washes it drops as the material deteriorates. Also, because the industry is increasingly aiming towards more breathable clothing and hence material, not all polyesters fabrics are the same. With that said any material is better than no material, hence my comment regarding the hoodies.

Pep stores kiddies/back to school section...XXL windbreaker..I'd buy a drimac like I used to have, it lasted forever but their modern hood design is not suited, and then a long sleeve t, if you can find white polo neck then you are in the money..Dont all go rush out though you'll all end up looking like me..I've had a skin cancer removed and cured a few with weed oil and dont intend getting more..You wont get burnt with two layers of clothing..
