I've been searching the web and phoning form the post office to the marine departments to try and find out whether you are allowed to fish in front of the Sea Farm from Hangklip side all the way to Betties Bay side however no one can answer me - is there maybe someone on this group that can advise please :?

As far as i know, any land up to the spring high mark is public land, and all public land you can fish on except obviously MPA's, i know i've seen a few threads here on sealine where similar questions were asked. if it were me i would fish there, as long as the place is accessible by foot and im not jumping any fence. ::tight:

"Betty’s Bay MPA

The Kogelberg Nature Reserve Complex includes the Betty’s Bay Marine Protected Area (MPA), which lies approximately 29 km south-east of the coastal town of Gordon’s Bay and approximately 37 km north-west of the popular holiday town Hermanus on the south western coastline of the Western Cape. The coastal town of Betty’s Bay is situated directly adjacent to it, which falls within the Overstrand Municipal area.

The MPA covers 3 km of coastline and encompasses the inshore marine environment between two beacons, the western one of which is situated on a rocky promontory at Stony Point and the eastern one, just to the east of Jock’s Bay.

Within the boundaries of the Betty’s Bay MPA, all marine organisms are protected and no fishing is allowed, with the exception of shore angling (subject to valid permits) between the beacon at Stony Point and the beacon to the east of Jock’s Bay, extending two nautical miles seawards from the high-water mark. The latter includes shore angling competitions which are held on a regular basis in the Betty’s Bay MPA."

That is what cape nature says about it, they manage the MPA there..

https://www.capenature.co.za/care-for-nature/conservation-in-action/marine-protected-areas/

"There is a small breeding colony of African penguins Spheniscus demersus. The region was notable for high population of Perlemoen, the abalone species Haliotis midae, but this has been heavily depleted by poaching"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty's_Bay_Marine_Protected_Area#Animals

Which explains the MPA's purpose..

So you can fish there most likely..MPA seems to be far enough away from where you describe? And you can fish there anyway under its designation with rod from the shore. No one can limit access via public land at the waterline in south africa as clearly in our law, public land and public resource, unless a restricted area or MPA, many a fence have had to be removed by now after court action LOL east coast and west coast..100%.
