Good day Sealiners
So I came across this braid in one of the tackle stores the other day.
I'm really amazed at the LB - Diameter rating
50lb at 0.20?
Its looking like a very good braid, has anyone used it?
Any advice?

Hi Avish.
I have used it for the past 4 months (rock and surf).
I have used the 30, 50 and 80lb.

So far no complaints. good value for money

Thanks For the reply Bamboes.
is the diameter of the braid as close to / as correct as stipulated on the box? reason im asking is I have a reel that I would like to fill up with ATLEAST 600m of braid.
300m backing , 300m topshot.

I want to put on 300m of grinder 50lb which is 0.28mm
then I want to try n get on another 300m of this surf pro braid which is 0.20mm.

I haven't bought the braid yet and I don't want to purchase something if it isn't going to fit.

Just for information sake , the reel hold 600m exactly of 0.26mm braid.

Thanks Guys

what reel is it that you're trying to fill up ? look at HMP as well. Enigma can give you more information regarding the HMP braid sizes and so on, but i can tell you that it is an incredible braid, i have just filled my bg5000 with it and got 300m 35lb backing and 260m 50lb as topshot.

It's a Gosa 14000. According to what I've heard the reel holds 600m of 0.26mm.
So if I want 300m of 0.28mm , n another 300m of ???
That's the dilemma.
In fact the reel is brand new. I haven't spoiled it yet.
I must be able to get on 600m of braid. 300/300.
I will give Craig a call regarding the HMP.

I have no clue what the line capacity is on the gosa 14k, but if i'm not mistaken, it's a similar size to the bg6500 which means that it should be able to hold more line than the bg5000 that i have...

Have a look at the sharkan website for information on the braid: http://sharkan.co.za/HMP-BRAID/

You can email them with your required information and i'm sure one of the salesmen would be able to help you.

50lb grinder braid is not 0.28mm, despite what the box says.
It is physically impossible for a 50lb braid to have a dia of 0.20mm, unless it is made from unobtanium.

Typical actual breaking strain for a PE line that really is 0.20mm in dia will be around 15lb. Really good stuff maybe 18lb
Buy a 600m spool of 50lb 8 strand HMP and fill it, you will have about 40m left over.
If you must split it backing + topshot, 300m 50lb 4 strand HMP + 300m 50lb 8 strand HMP. Done.
