Bass on fly

Guys

Has anyone landed bass on fly lately?

I'll be going to a venue in July that caters for Trout (fly only) and Bass (fly and conventional) fishing and will obviously take the trailer filled with fly-gear with, Problem is What fly/flies to use?

Any ideas would be very welcome!

Do you have a pic of the fly?

I too caught LGF's on an orange and yellow coloured beadheaded fly before, and I have noticed that when it comes to fly fishing for LGF, most of the flies have an orange part somewhere in the fly, but this is not the case with most of the soft plastics and hardbaits? Very strange I think?

Good, will see on Tues as I need to go stand in a que on Mon to register a house so, I will only be able to post and check on Tuesday.

Which reminds me I slightly recall having to have posted some pics of flies that I tied myself, but never got around to it, I think that thread is under one of the topics under fly fishing and tying, and if I'm not mistaken it was for Loams? Eish, he's gonna "klap" me real hard....

Will see what I can post on Tuesday

To those going fishing on the weekend, Happy Huntings, TIGHT LINES and remember to catch and release to ensure future catches to our kids.

The eelworm lure fly works great for bass. Bass will take anything flashy mostly. Use black bulky flies if the water is murky/stained. Small poppers works better during summer.

Remember that in winter bass wont waste energy chasing small baits/flies.

Sorry

Poor quality photo. This thing is tiny, I bought it to spin for bass, could never cast the thing. Many years later a mate told me it was a fly not a regular lure. Anyways, we have both caught a few small bass on this.

Don't worry about the picture quality, I have the same problem and that's mainly why Loams is going to slap the living nonsense out of me when again we meet as I promised him some pics of flies I tied myself, problem is the focus, I've tried everything, except scanning ....

Thanks anyhow, I recognise the colours, and they're very similar to the colours of the flies that I normally use to land bass on fly...

LGF,

I normally get better quality on the pics. I was in a hurry and didn't set it up with the tripod.

Set the camera to macro, mount it on a tripod and try to use enough external light that you don't need the flash.

If you need to get some photo's done I can probably help

So thats where I make the mistake, the natural light, I've used the flash (was at night) and even with the macro on it didn't get sharp images, will try the natural light thing sometime this week.

Hang on in there Loams, I'll get the pics posted soon....

I've bought strip leach Poppers in black and chartuese, but haven't had the opportunity to try them yet, will give them a swing in July when I get to go to Lakenvlei... until then it will only be conventional Bass lures as it becomes a little difficult on DADUCKY with a fly-rod or three and especially when we're three guys on the ducky....

Will see if I can take pics of those as well and post them here!

I also got on a green wholly buggers. But just remember to fish very slow. But  do agree with ghost. The flies might be a bit small for them this time of the year. Slap a Yamamoto senko or cre bait on the flie rod lmao ::H

I'll need to first strap all three my fly rods together with duck-tape before I'll be able to shoot the line out with a GY senko rigged to the front end....

I'll let you into a secret, perhaps some know this...I've tried most bass flies and they all work at times but I have huge success with a large Mrs Simpson...still the best imho.

Anyway it always works for me at Inanda Dam KZN...caught some real lunkers with it.
