Hi Guys,
Got back from my trip to Plettenberg Bay last weekend. Although a lot of very cold hours were spent at the waterside - I unfortunately do not have much to report. Due to the cold front that moved through while I was there, the conditions were far from ideal for rock and surf fishing and the water was excpetionally cold and clear.
I've managed to hook up a few caranteen and blacktail of the rocks at Beacon Isle using my newly aquired dropshot kit. And although my hopes for landing a nice steenbras or garrick were not to be, I had a lot of fun playing around with the dropshot. My dropshot kit will be packed on all of my fishing trips from now - as it is a perfect way to keep yourself entertained when the other edibles aren't on the bite.
I was surprised that I din not have any success at the Keurbooms river mouth (dropshot and normal surf tackle). Although I've received some reports of the guys in the caravan park hooking some juvenile garrick. There was also report of a young laaitie that hooked and landed a nice size grunter in the early hours of the morning.
Although I did not land any decent sized fish, a day spent on the rocks/beach beats a good day at work hands down anytime!
Good to be back and tight lines to all!
