The two on the left were drained years ago to make way for a housing development and the natural flow was cannalised, I do not know what might have survived. The vlei on the extreme right is know as bass vlei and I have see people fishing there. Never bothered to enquire as to catchs as in those days I thought fresh water fisherman were crazy. There are also turtles in bass vlei. Bass and trout were introduced by Mr Ebershone the then curator to the botanical gardens. Bass to bass vlei and trout to the river through the botanical gardens and down to the sea along side Dawids kraal. This happened plus / minus 40 years ago.
