Your moulds are on their way. You should be getting them early next week.

@ Markj
Because of the Dstv and some of my colleagues who did not do their work, I spent the after part of a month in the bush tracing and rearesting these bastards.

Thanks Howard.

Hope your moulds gives you endles fishing pleasure

As a matter of interest

I like fishing with cone sinkers, when the sea allows me.

Thr problem I usualy have is the fact that I can not clip my bait to the hook to make casting a bit easier.

I then took the same clip that I'm using for my grapnels and use it when I'm casting my cone sinkers.

It Works Beatifully

HI Ppl

I finally got a chance to make myself some sinkers over the weekend

Managed to make the followin sinkers as it is what I use most often:

Amount of sinkers                                        My Cost

30 x 2 oz Cone sinkers                                R0.59 per sinker

30 x 3 oz Cone sinkers                                R0.79 per sinker

30 x 4 oz Cone sinkers                                R0.91 per sinker

30 x 6 oz Cone sinkers                                R1.37 per sinker

30 x 3 oz Grapnell Sinkers                           R0.95 per sinker

30 x 4 oz Grapnell Sinkers                           R1.07 per sinker

30 x 7 oz Grapnell Sinkers                           R1.75 per sinker

15 x 8 oz Grapnell Sinkers                           R2.13 per sinker

20 x 9 oz Grapnell Sinkers                           R2.29 per sinker

Total Sinkers                                                        Total Cost

245                                                                   R301.35

That with the Price I paid for my lead, wires and gas included

The Total cost for this in a tackle shop would be around R1300.00

I saved +- R1000 by making the sinkers myself

Hi PPl

I have been getting alot of guys wanting to make their own grapnels with nylon instead of springsteel wires.

Well I tried it yesterday and it works like a charm.

For Scratching Stick I use A 3oz and 4oz sinker with 2.5mm nylon. The moulds come with 2.4mm dummy wires so I drill the sinker with a 2.5mm drillbit and then insert the nylon into the holes. Before you drill the sinker dip it in some parrafin to make the drilling easier. Once the nylon is in the holes you need to take a blunt punch and punch it just below the nylon to make sure the nylon stays in place.

I did the same thing with my 6oz and 7oz grapnel sinkers. I use 3.5mm nylon with them and the same method as above.

The nylon is available from any lawnmower shop.

Here is some pics.

I also have some new editions to the grapnel family.

I have the 6, 7 and 8 in  the trusted old egg shape.
