That`s a very good spot Brett..in terms of the cob it will be best to fish at night an hour before high tide to two hours after high tide...during the day at that spot it will be Stumps and Smooths.

Just been down to the Paaltjies and the Spit...couple of Stumps came out,but only on white mussel.A few big runs, but line got off, must have been a big Smooth that sandpaper the line with it`s death roll.Shoe, the water is warm, dunno what to inform you guys if it is a good or a bad thing..Trophy,Wayne and Sailfish what do you make of this warm water...this is the warmest I have ever seen the water at the Baan..like to get some feedback on this..some speculation maybe???
Hallo daar Oom Daisy. Die warm water gebeur gewoonlik as daar so paar lekker warm dae was en die gety tussen die springs is met min styg en sak water verskil. So die see stoot nie sommer weer koue water in as die fjord se water nie groot verskil het in hoogte as die see self anderkant die Flaberg nie.

The water in the baan is warm due to the tides not doing what they normally would...but it is a good sign for fishing..the Stumps do prefer the colder water but you will now get more Smooths and bronzes as well as Kob coming on the bite, wait for the cold water to come in and as soon as it mixes with that warm water there is going to be a STUMPY SMASH...with lines going tight and fish biting on anything you put in the water...

Hi Don..I haven`t flown for a long time, but sure I can still do the Lomsovac, split S,knive edge and cuban 8..lol..we miss you! What`s this about the warm water..we need your expertise here?????

Guys dont forget that the water in the lagoon is also directly affected by the temp of the sea on the West Coast. Right now there is a band of warm water along the West coast, something that you dont see very often in the Summer months. As you all know, we have not had a lot of SE yet, and when this does happen, the water will cool down again. Right now, the water along the West coast is varying around 16 c, which is very warm. There has been quite a lot of Yellowtail around Dassen Island, and the Blinders around Stompneus bay, so stand by for some tail following that warm water into the lagoon. If anything, this warm water will at least attract good fish stocks to the lagoon for the Summer, and those that enter the lagoon now while the sea is so warm will inevitably stay in the lagoon looking for warm patches when the sea cools down. My thoughts anyway......................Tighlines ! Would love to be on the water this weekend, but alas...............taking the family into the mountains in the Cederberg for some R&R. I will be there for 2 whole weeks from mid Dec though, gonna catch the DIK !Over and out !

On th number theres rob the band of water can be seen by sattelite imagery , used often by the tuna fisherman prior to going out to see. this compounded with the excessive south easter , its boound to raise the mercury, infact the warm water is now blockading the water from the lagoon to mixing with colder water from the atlantic, so used it good , however remeber the warmer it gets the les fish we will see, the warmer water will mean decrease in the O2 levels this will efectively bring the fishing to a dull roar as the fish seek cooler waters. I could be wrong but from my experience this is what generally happens inshore when temp rises , however warm water with excessive se at times might just be able to keep a few fish arpound, as the water will oxygenate from the choppy conditions.

oom daisy...
