Hi all,
Last weekend I put out my first swim bait (2kg milk shark) and landed a 63 kg black tail. My equipment was an Assassin beach master heavy with a saltist loaded with 50 Lb braid and 0.50 main line, the fight took me around 45 min.
Needless to say i'm hooked... gone through all the swim bait threads and it would seem that the TLD 50 II Speed Lever Drag is the right reel, but what about the rod???
I am currently looking at 2 rods
1. Poseidon HMG extra heavy 8 - 10 ounce
2. Saltiga surf 8 - 13 ounce
Any thoughts on the above rods? or would an extra heavy Assassin be the way to go.
Most of my swim baits will be 2 - 3 Kg bone fish and possibly some brown rays in the 8 - 10 kg range. Most of the sharks we catch off the beach are in 20 -40 Kg range which might be a bit large to swim.
Any advice on the rods will be appreciated, thanks
