Hi guys

I read on a website the following and like to share with the members.

Winding Line on the Machine at the tackle puts stain on you line and does not create the correct profile on your drum and therefore reduces your casting distance between 12 to 15 percent.

Suggestion is it is done manually with the following method

Drop your spool in a bucket with luke warm water and run you line to the middle of a telephone directory. The luke warm water adds lubrication.tension and softens your line. The directory puts the correct amount of tension. When your soften line seats itself on your line it is claimed that the memory retention is excellent reducing drag and bunching.

I would like to know if anybody has heard about or tried it

Regards

Jace

I think i read it on this forum if i'm not mistaken , i tried it and i did get fewer overruns and might of been throwing further but one can never measuer correctly when on the beach. Throwing a 100m on a field does not mean you will get the same distance @ the beach, because you standing in moving water and your balance is not the same as well as the wind factor and how far you can wade etc etc

Mum

It shouldn't cause nicks on the line. the other thing is you need someone to hold the spool of line in the water with a stick thru it. the line has to come off the same way it went on the spool otherwise you have a line that when casted wants to jump off the spool and not peel off, causing overwinds.

The line could be getting nicked on the bucket and not the telephone directory

Hi Guys

Just thought id let you all know that i have filled new line on both my reels using this method. I wedged the line in the bucket with a stick and filled warm water in it, covering the entire spool. Then fed the line through a yellow pages directory and onto my reel...:)

Works like a charm. I went down to the beach, first cast with a 7ounce and the line peeled of perfectly. Till this day i have had no issues with the line. So in my own opinion, this method works and i will continue to use it:D

Cheers
