The anual "Radio Wave Bass Classic" took place at Von Bach Dam the past weekend with 52 teams partisipating.

Congratulations to  IGNATIUS (team Playboys) who got an overall 4th place in the event!!!::tclaph::tclaph(...and that with a broken trawling motor on day 2...!)

The results are available on the following link: http://www.radiowave.com.na/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=109:bassclassic2010&catid=3:newsflash

I'll load some pics later. Naas, maybe you can assist in giving a short report with some pics also. (I caught to few to give a full report on what worked, structure ect...:doh. I could write a lenghty report on what didn't work, though...........)

Thanks Pieter, not much to report and a very poor pic.
My usual partner, Gerhard wrote his final exams, but Kobie joined me on her very first competition trip.
Saturday:
We started at the entrance to the Bloekom sloep where Kobie caught her first bass, weight,1,5kg with a weightless junebug fluke.

We then started fishing the reefs and filled our three fish limit with junebug flukes, that we fished on a mini carolina rig.

I later started fishing an 8" green pumpkin lizard on the same rig and picked up a 1,9 and a 2,2kg that put us in around 15th place.
Sunday:
Started at the reefs and first cast with the lizard produced a nice 2kg fish. Within 15 minutes we had our limit that included a 1,5 and a 1,9.

At around 10:00 we wanted to move but found our crank battery flat. Changed it with the trolling battery and drifted to the end of Walvisbay. Here I hooked my leg over a ledge and we spend some time talking about the good life we enjoy in Namibia. While talking, Kobie went vas on a 2,3kg and we could cull the 1,5. Decide to call it a day and went to the weigh station. At the entrance of the false ski sloep, Kobie convinced me to stop and make a last cast. One cast later and we culled the 1,9 with a 2,2 that gave us a three fish limit of 6,5kg.

Luckily for us, most of the front runners from Saturday, failed to locate the bigger fish on day 2.

Best of all is that kobie will join me on the next trip and she donated her half of the prize money to buy tackle for our next Angola trip.

A bad pic of Kobie with a nice kicker.

Thanks Pieter, the winning bag for last week-end league was over 11kg for a 5 fish bag limit.

Von Bach is producing nice fish this year.

The first 5kg Bass in namibia was also caught this season in Oanob and I hear Friedenau is also producing lots of fish above 2kg.
