Myself and my trusty little boat have been selcted to provide these guys with a platform to operate from and the task of putting them into the bigger fish.
Yup where and when the big ones play is something a few of us keep closely guarded.

There will be teams from around the world in this event. For all you interested anglers, come check the weigh-ins out and maybe have a grog at Mahogany.

CAPE TOWN YELLOWFIN TUNA OPEN TOURNAMENT
An "open invitational team" event for teams of three spearos has been scheduled for Cape Town (diving the legendary waters off Cape Point) later this year. Entry fees are ZAR4200 (less than $700) per team of three with an additional boat fuel deposit of ZAR4000 (about $600). Boats and skippers are to be provided by the Cape Boat & Skiboat Club as well as an opening function and all meals during the tournament for this money. The diving days will be the best 2 days of May 7,8,9 or 10. May is typically regarded as the month with the biggest tuna in these waters, and is late autumn in Cape Town.

That tourney is gonna be a showdown of some SERIOUS heavy weights from the Spearo World.... would love to just be in the water to check these guys work.....

HT - Kudos to you on having your boat, and your skills selected to put these boys onto some monster fish....
I'm guessing a local spearo is gonna take the crown, Tommy or Ryna or Miles.... unless Greg Pickering is spearing too, then it could be anyones tournament.....

Awesome!

Watch out for Angelo from Natal. I think he may just want to prove a point. As far as I know he was selected as a reserve for the national team. Should have easily been in the team,in my opinion.

Must say I don't know any of them if I fell over them. Just know Ryan who fishes commercially and have fished with him on another boat.
That lad knows his shit re Tuna and local knowledge is hard to beat especially when you doin it every other day in the season.
I think that his sa record is going to be wiped out for sure this year.

Ja, I am in it for the experience, just hope I don't leave anyone behind like that awful movie.

Shot, I am excited because it is something different for me and If I can be a part in any way I am up for it. Still a long way to go but I think it may be the start of something bigger.

Cheers

The problem for the other competitors with okes like that Pickering guy are that he can regularly absolutely stone a fish with his shot Im sure there are others who are great spearos just that he is a bit of a freak of nature!!
