As far as I know, with carp its a matter of genes. Some carp with better genes are round/oval and normally weigh more than the more streamlined ones.

It was at the vaal marina, from inside one of the estates where the boats launch. Caught in very shallow water, probably 60m out, about 2m deep

Thank you! must get a canoe or bait boat to get those baits out a bit further...most of the places i have access to are too shallow

Gav as for big fish in shallow water... i know of a 28kg baber taken in Bloemhof dam when the dam was pretty empty, and the islands formed with all the waterbirds... fish head dropped in 1m water was the answer!

Both the above statements are very true, one of ''Droomvanger''s methods,when fishing dams, is to park his boat on the bank and then fish for cats on foot in very very shallow water,even during daytime. Bernard jy kan maar so bietjie inkleur hier wanneer jy dit raak lees.

Now I can Join this the 15kg club...got this one last weekend in the vaaldam 15kg on the dot no for the 20kg....Bait was a fish head....got 6 over 10kg in total.

16 kg Baber gevang met spring wurm by die hoek Bloemhof. My grootste is n 20kg by Cristiana met n plattie gevang maar ek sal die foto moet gaan inscan eers. 10 jaar terug was n digital kamera luxury!!

Ja ek was al lekker aan die slaap toe besluit daai kat om daai senterpin so bietjie te laat raas. Ons was daar vir 6 dae en daai oggend sou ons vroeg opgestaan het om optepak.

Die Hoek is aan die gang. Ek het nog nooit sleg babers gevang daar nie. Daai jaar het ons tussen 3 van ons seeker by die honderd babers gevang met die gewig tussen 7kg en die 16kg was die grootste. Baie van 13,14kg. Was laas jaar weer daar toe omtrent so 20 babers gevang met die grootste 10kg. Beslis die mooite werd om n trip daar te maak en laas jaar het ons nog R100 n aand betaal vir die stand met krag. Ek hou daarvan om tussen stand 17 en 28 te staan maar enige stand is ok daar
