Just to confirm, Rocky bank is out of bounds? Can we not somehow include RB and perhaps bellows too? Just asking cos it's probably the best jigging spots in the vicinity.

Hi Will101

It is open for brief discussion but in my opinion Rocky Banks, Bellows etc is in bounds. Where possible we will choose (with Alan's assistance) weather days that make this managable for most if not all competitors.

To spread to comp to Robben and Dassen would just be too much of a stretch from a launch site perspective which would impact on our ability to get together after the days fishing at CBSBC to meet and greet.

I would imagine we will see guys launching from Simonstown, Miller, Hout Bay and possibly some of the smaller boats from Buffels.

Your views or any others?

Franz

Sounds good thanks - I was thinking of running from Hout Bay and I have done so plenty enough but for this I am going to get my A into gear and finally get my trailer on the road. That means we can at least hook up after lines-up as well. Not to mention the fuel savings.
Thanks from me too for all your efforts.
Perhaps in the future we can see something similar, including all species, artificial lures only and catch&release too. False Bay has such varied fishing possibilities it would be great to see some out-the-box thinking from our anglers.

I don't have a problem with Rocky Bank being open, although it is out of my 5nm range.

My ideal conditions for the day anyway, would be cold water outside the Point with 16 - 17 deg water around Buffels, Smits area, no cloud, light SE and target those just under the surface shoals that you have to sight cast for, if you can't see them you can't catch them.

Winter drop-shot species comp, only one fish of each species to count and weigh in with a photo.

Absolutely agree and think that the informal comps are the way to go. I for one just cannot commit to a full league due to family constraints and hence the reason that we will keep this one to two days and a braai. Who knows if it goes well we can look at expanding the footprint in future.

Two updates:

  1. I am awaiting the cost per head for catering at the CBSBC which I think will be very reasonable. They will by the looks of things put on a braai for us with trimmings for the opening and prize ceremonies at a cost per head basis. There is a very reasonable bar facility available as well. I will need to get confirmed numbers from the team captains shortly. I would suggest we collect the money at the opening event. [/*]
  2. In a spurt of creativity I have rendered a official measuring mat for us. I am having these printed on corex (sp?) which is the same stuff that the estate agents boards are made from. There will be one for each team allowing either a photo to be taken on the board for C&R or alternatively kept fish can be measured at the club after lines up.[/*]
The pic is as below and is only 1.2 metres. I however strongly suspect that any 'tail bigger than this will be kept in any event :)

Thanks for all the effort so far......!!

We are a small group and I propose that the groups per boat actually have a Fishing Kit as well.
Each crew to have a different colour T-Shirt or hat ....
Man, just thinking out of the box and let's have fun!

Your view guys?

All for the crew kit idea Sid :) it would be great if we could get some span gees going!

Rob - really hoping the sea will improve looks like the South is here to stay for another two weeks or so before starting to ease off a little.

That said with guys like Alan and Paul to give us pointers I reckon we stand the best chance of getting some action - there is however a prize for the most notable other (excluding snoek) which could add some fun on dropshot and jig?

NOPE ... My understanding is that we will / can arrange these ourselves from any place ....
Time is going to be the issue for ordering it via Sea line ...

I am just going to go to Mr Price and get some for my mad crew... Have fun!

Sounds like the Gees is building up and Alan is already practicing his casting into the SE!

We are still in and we are booking YELLOW please, since I have a felling there's going to be a lot more "yellow" on our boat!

Might be a bit less crew on our boat depending on fishing dates, but prolly still 4 pax for functions.

Thanks for this Franz, this is going to go down nicely in the memory books!

Hi guys, sorry I have been missing in action. Actually avoiding my pc all together for holiday sake. Things are really starting to get going now but I have not had an opportunity to go skipper my way around the point, rb, or bellows yet.

This SE has only aloud me out 3times over the holiday and of course I was sent to get reef at rooielse. I would really appreciate it if one you could either allow me to follow in your wake for the first time or give me a heads up on where to go and where not to go ::titanic:::titanic: on the gps.

Me, my liitle 510 sea cat and 2 Crew are seriously excited!

Hey HBobby!

Little Seacat 510? Bar Sids boat you are on a yacht bro:) Remember little boats are winners in sneaking up on tail!

The idea at the briefing on Friday the 21st is to share a little advice and knowledge. I for one cannot wait to pick guys like Alan and Paul's brains when it comes to spinning for these buggers. Reckon we will have a good set of plans come the first fishing day.

Bar that I have installed a Netstar tracking device in Paul and Alan's boat so follow me as I follow them:)
