Bass diseases

just wondering what sort of diseases bass get??

i recently caught a bass which was extremely pale....you could hardly call it green, it was more whitish/yellowish. I examined its gills and they seemed very "mooshy" almost like something had been eating away at them, did not look healthy at all. Fish still gave a very impressive fight for its size and did not seem thin or have any funny sores.

and a couple weeks ago i caught one which had a sore on its inner bottom lip with what looked like a patch of rot or a scab...wondered if i should try clean it but rather left it alone. besides that it too looked healthy and faught well

About 2 years ago the bass in silverlakes all got a similar pale\mushy condition , resulting in many of them dying , I've also come across some bass with these patches of "rot" almost always they have parasites feeding off of that spot . I did some research and only found one known disease called "large mouth bass virus"or "lmbv" not much is known about it , the symptoms are bloated fish and red sores appearing on the side of the fish ,I doubt we have it here , however bass are very prone to bacterial infections caused by polluted water , bass may also appear to be weak and thin just after the spawn period , this time also may be just after heavy rains , causing muddy water , bear in mind the darker the water the more pale the fish , so a post spawn fish found in very cold muddy water may look as sick as a dog and then by january fat and happy again.
