Has anobody heard any fishing reports on the fishing at Dassen Island?  Have any yellowtails or snoek surfaced there recently?

We might have a chance to launch Sat early, so I really hope there's some fish around...

Should be interesting leaving the harbor the water around the Dokter is going to be up. See the swell. 4m+. If we get a westerly on that swell be cautious up there, I worked a snoek boat there for 5 years. It gets up.
Nothing is happening there, 4 boats out today, catching Hottentot.
Call this number, when you hear 20+ boats, you know there are snoek. It is the harbor masters number and he updates the machine every morning.

Thanks HT! We'll keep an eye on the weather report and if it looks bad we'll carry on to Langebaan lagoon and go for a nice relaxing ride with the family.

I've heard stories about the slip at Yzer on big swell, so rather be safe than sorry.

Have you launched there?

The new slip is better than the old one, but if you got big swell you need to time your ride onto the trailer perfectly. You cant winch up or anything you ride up, hitch the chain and ride out in almost one fluid move with the surge.

brings back memories. Served my time on that slip. If you can handle Ysters slip you can handle any slip

Well so much for putting to sea today.
So here I sit again -damn.

I have a mate who when the skipper pulled a 26ft Cape Craft up the slip, the guy on the front, forgot to lock the winch and better still didn't fasten the chain. The car went up the, surge pulled the Capey back and my friend had both his thumbs severed from his hand as the winch handle spun round at who knows how many thousand revs.

He he poor bastard.

Have to agree, you handle that slip you can handle any in the Cape Town area.
Buckles - Imagine us. Straight from beach launching to that slip on my first launch here in CT. Never driven a boat up a trailer in my life before that. Break neck and beach sand before. That's where I cut my teeth slipway launching and from then on it sure as hell got easier.
