Hi all,

So i will be off to the Maldives in September not the best time of year but hey its for a honeymoon but the rods are coming along even though fishing is not allowed in and around islands unless on a charter boat or organized trip by the resort.So cant pass up the opportunity to take my Drop shot rod as well as my Jigging rod to fish off the charter boats.The potential of some different species and the fact that it looks like fishing paradise, it would just be DUMB:doh to not wet my light tackle lines.

Geez i cant wait.::S

Has anybody fished in the Maldives? I would be interested to hear some stories.

Tx Guys i look forward to the reply's

Hi Sven

I have got a mate who lives in Dubai who has just come back from a trip.  Plenty of GT's on stick bait not poppers.  He reckons most of them were small around 15-20kg's.  This in comparison to some of the others caught by his mates a few in excess of 30kg's

Hi Choopie,

When you say stick bait do you mean on bait and not spinning? nothing wrong with 15-20kg GT's. I'll take that anyday:)

Yeh cant wait to see what comes out especialy on the dropshot, maybe a couta or some GT's. Should be fun.:dban:

Will definately post pic's when i get back.

Surface lures not actual bait.  They took 80 poppers between 10 of them and 6 stick baits.  Not one fish came out on a popper, left with one stick bait in tact.  A stick bait is a kind of floating rapala. i.e. a lip less rapala.  Google it and will find arctiles in Aus comparing stick baits to poppers.

These are Stickbaits:

They come in sinking and floating versions and are DYNAMITE on everything from Wahoo, GT's, Tuna, Grouper and everything in between...
