The RASSPL nationals will take place in the Port Alfred area based at Kasouga from the 24 /25 Registration days and fishing the 26/27/28 April the Friday and Tuesday is a long week end. The top 40 anglers from each franchise will qualify to fish. Any anglers not able to fish please let me know so I can let the next anglers in line know so they can book time and start making arrangements for accommodation and travel.
Entry fee is R500 for the three days to be paid into the RASSPL account
Junior’s fish free all juniors and ladies that fished the 2011 season automatically qualify to fish

Cash Prizes

R10 000 cash prize Most outstanding catch over the three days

R5 000 Cash prize Most Points over the three days

Top 8 Species per day

R1000 x 8 = R8000 per day

3 Samsung flat screen TVs worth R4500 each = R13 500
Once we have established how many anglers are taking part we will increase the cash prize fund to include more prizes

These prizes exclude the prizes from our regular sponsors and any new sponsors coming on board. There should be around R100 000 in prizes by the time the national is fished in April.
All anglers taking part must fish in a RASSPL Pro shirt displaying your franchise. Anglers purchasing two or more shirts will pay a discounted rate of R250 each or R285 rather than the R320. Junior shirts are R195.

Shirt orders need to be placed before the 28[sup]th[/sup] Feb so the orders can be completed by the 24[sup]th[/sup] April.
If you are not sure if you qualify go to the www.rasspl.com site and look under the results section click on your franchise and the top 40 points will be displayed.
Well done to David Drennan for finishing first in Border with 1193 points and Brett Harris for winning the EP franchise WP is being led by Ebrahim Hamza and Boland led by Henning Venter and Weskus by Neil Fourie. If you are already in the top 30 you can start booking your accommodation at Kasouga Port Alfred Bushman’s river or Kenton. I will answer any questions regarding the nationals in this thread so the other anglers can read them. Registration and prize giving will be at the Kasouga Ford Hall starting from Wednesday 12:00 24 April. All anglers must be paid up fully before the 1 March to qualify to fish.

One winning specie over three days of fishing is R1000 prize money which pays for that, catch 2 or get a big fish over any of the 3 days and you could be smiling with a lot extra cash in your pocket. remember more prizes are yet to still be added.

Tucker our budget for nationals for EP going to A nationals in Natal was R12 000 per angler this year and if you lucky you win medals if you come in the top Three teams.

You stand a chance of winning a minimum of R70k in prizes at the Pro league nationals. Sport fishing isn't cheap if you worried about the cost there are lots of anglers wanting to fish and would be happy to take your spot for the opportunity.

Martin the angler that scores the most points at the nationals is the winner but the R10 000 cash prize will go to the angler catching the most outstanding catch to give the whole field a chance of winning.
Depending on the number of entrants and what is sponsored we will boost the prize for the top points over the three days. The top angler over three days will walk away with some good prizes that will be decided once we finalize the sponsored prizes for the competition.

Tacker, howz your maths… Like any fishing trip its expensive, I've never fished a Rock & Surf comp for prizes this big. Dean hasn't even mentioned the sponsored prizes yet. I think it’s going to be an awesome event. First of its kind!

The prizes in this RASSPL are absolutely insane!  It's also really easy to win one of them - no need to be a pro angler.  I mean in some comps, guys win prizes for biggest blacktail or zebra.  There is a good chance of winning a grand even if you've never fished before.

Look at the costs of some of the ski-boat comps.  The entrance fees are in the thousands!  When there are big prizes, it follows that the entrance fee follows suit...

This is going to be an epic AND ground breaking event. Wish you all the best with it guys! Wish I could have been there!!!! I'm sure I will be next time!

As for the costs...........I have won about R7000 worth of prizes and have only fished about 3 comps (no spare time or I would have registered for the league!!)! Now I am no mathematician but hey....this is almost for free man! Check the prizes on offer! Henning must be licking his lips in anticipation!
