Reel Magic Charters Action Update!!

Two days on 30 lb and 0-2 on blues - fish very lethargic with hot water 28/29 and starting from breakwater with no break in temp.
Tough conditions to find fish..need some cooler water fast!^^..

That's the positive approach bring out the heavy artillery and you will have those 500lb fish swimming next to the boat hope conditions improve and in time for the comp!

Thx its been a hard slog with weather and knock downs without hookups...save them for the comp hopefully.(with hookup!)

Doing some touching up and maintainance on Reel Magic and getting her engine room shiney and new. In this heat its like a hell hole down there but its necessary to keep her majesty looking the part!

Hows the tuna doing your side, heard about the marlin( Hooked on Africa Charters) thought they might get a few your side with this water!

U may laugh but its not a joke when they run off a lot of line and then throw the hook or simply refuse to hook up. Fish been very lethargic and come in once and give it a knock and thats it! Very frustrating when the fishing is so slow and hard work to get pulls. Over it now - will give it a go when the water cools again and the fish are more active.

Amazing how conditions change and the fish feed differently in the warm water. you could get a hookup on anything earlier in the season!

ps did have two fish run me off on 30lb earlier in the season, even with the drag backed off completely..call that blue marlin blitz!

Well its been slow and have been giving it a rest. Couple of days of SW coming up ..hope it will shake things up for the better. No reports of fish this side, will be down at the club tonight to get the debrief and any news. Comps starting next week so ill be out scouting for action probably Tuesday by the looks of the weather. Anybody had any luck north of us? :fishn

Great reports coming from the Myn Manne comp in Sodwanna with 34 fish released today..looks like the season is getting back on track again! Will be out tomorrow to check the status this side!::S

Looks like the report i received was exaggerated somewhat and just on 20 Billfish were released of which 7 were sails!
Well i wont exaggerate our efforts today..we saw nothing moving out there, no bait no birds, and we covered a lot of water.
Have looked at the charts for sodwanna and they do have a tongue of warm water which has pushed in from the deep, and may be holding the fish.

Can only hope it gets here soon as its looking bleak out there. Then again another day could make all the difference. Heres to another day !!

For the Myne manne, if we could try keep this thread updated so we can follow it that would be appreciated!

Today was really exiting ..really! Saw lots of birds and a pod of 100's of pilot whales....
oh and then at 4pm, heading for home ,we hooked a blue while all were in the saloon(including myself) debating the poor state of the fishing! Were so shallow we had to dodge a commercial bottom fishing boat while fighting the fish! Go Figure..definitely not skill on the skippers part, but then again it counts. Well done Mike after how many trips to Mauritius? No 21 for the season!

Had two days of fishing in pouring rain wet to the bone in sxxx seas....really fun..not! Plenty gamefish yesterday and had one knock down and one hookup on a stripe that pulled hooks at the boat today. Definitely not what we wanted but thats the score for now! 6 fish landed by 18 boats in 2 days..hard going!

Sadsaa Billfish has come and gone ..well done to Trinity on their win with 3 releases. Our score was 1-2 in very trying conditions to say the least. Many of our local guru's going without a strike for 3 days... very slow and in very poor sea conditions...very long days. Water still very warm and no current. Good news is that the Yellowfin are around and should get better over the next month. We will target them soon!

Two boats went to find the bigger tuna and found nothing, lost another small marlin on a bad hookup on 30lb yesterday and had a quick look today..all boats were very quiet probably as a result of the swell getting up already. Heads down for the weekend!

Back home for 2 weeks to allow the weather to find the season its in and have a break.Back last week in March for the bonanza and the yellowfin and hopefully a big blue or two!!:::S

Been watching the water temp after the recent weather, nice to sea the temp dropping on the North coast!

Hopefully this will bring our gamefish back on shortly.^^..

Any decent catches arround recently?:wfish

Looks like some good weather coming up.::S:SSS

Back in the saddle after a 3 week layoff and we were straight into the action after only 15 minutes trolling. Nice Wahoo of 25 plus kg followed by a blue that smoked 700 metres of line off the long rigger. Got cleared and settled in and was gaining line when she pulled free..thanks for coming! 20 minutes later a nice Dorado and another Wahoo and the first hour had flown by! Went looking for another blue on the outside and then on to the 1200m line to find a yellowfin. Had two lures knocked out of the clips by a Spearfish and then got pack attacked by Dorado. Found birds on the 1200 line working on big Skipkack and landed a few of them too!! All quiet after midday, what an awesome day on the water with no swell, sunshine and a calm sea. Sure the new Oakley lenses made the day even sweeter! Only thing missing was the charter who had booked us and failed to pitch.....my deckie, Danie had a ball.... and so did I! :fbash:fbash:fbash:fbash:fbash:fbash
