Hello Everyone

I would like to know if anyone has fished Sabie river for trout recently and if they have had success on that piece of water as i am going there soon on holiday and would like to know if that river is worthwhile.

Thanks guys:fswim

Howsit Aztec, hope this helps-

SABIE CLUB At the moment the flow in the Sabie is perfect and a good number of visitors have fished the river. However, rainfall has been below average and unless there is some winter rain the Sabie could be very low by late winter. With regard to the Blyde the land claim has been approved and until there is some clarity with regard to the new owners no day tickets are being sold for this river. Also note that for families, beginners and kids the Horseshoe Farm offers fishing in a pond on a put & take basis with booking at Big Sky store (numbers below). The day permits are R90 per day or R150 for 3 days and non-fishers pay R10 for an access permit. Permits for the Sabie and Lake Olaf (which offers good Stillwater trout) must be purchased at Big Sky in Sabie. For more information phone Andrew at 083 9665089 or 013 7642682.

Yeah dude i do agree there is a line that distinguishes competion fishing and recreational we all want to catch fish end of the day by helping each other out we are developing this sport which is needed in all its facets as cliche as it is but sharing is caring is something we all have to learn.::jdfis

Good day Aztec,

Fished it recently, blanked on the day, but there where enough fish around! Got takes, but fish where very difficult to catch. It was a very hot day, and the fish where quite lethargic. I believe in winter you will have a good time. The usual selection of dry flies and nymphs for small streams will work. Keep your tippets thin and approach each section of the river with stealth.

Nearby you can also fish the Blyde river!

Give Big Skye in Sabie a call for more information:

You can also fish the Merry Pebbles section of the river, had success there previous years!

Also have a look at this venue: http://flyloops.net/showvenue.php?venue_id_search=62

Hope this helps!
