Storms River fishing spots

Hi All

Does anyone know if there are any fishing spots in Storms River?

I have been invited there for a week in December but to my dismay it seems that all fishing is prohibited???

It seems that the whole area is part of the Tsitsikamma National Park?

Any response will be much appreciated!

Thanks

You could give huisklip a try.

i usually travel there from p.e. or Uitenhage. the distance for us is about 130km (we turn off the N2 after about 95 km). Since uitenhage and Storms River are about 170 kms apart, it should not be more than about 80kms for you on the N2 and then about 30 kms after that.

search huisklip on this site for all the details of what you can expect to catch and for directions.

Turns123,
it's very sad I know, I used to go fishing with my uncle MANY MANY years ago, right where the NSRI slipway is now, can't remember if it was there then.
was EXCELLENT fishing, but now we are not allowed to anymore. Deep gullies with GOOD FISH.

I didn't know if was closed for fishing, went there last year with rods n all but was told to bug off ! Luckily I was staying in a lodge about 30km-50km away so it wasn't a case of driving all the way there for nothing (from PE).

Now I know.

So that confirms it - what a pity - but i suppose conservation must come first and am not against these reserves.

You may work at Storms River mouth. You can rent cottages there from the Parks board. Very nice and clean etc.
The other areas apart from Huiskilp are closed for good reason too!! :)
Everyone wants to pull the largest breeding fish from the sea, we dont realize they are the stock, rather take all the little ou's and leave the bigger guns for the next generation.
Sadly too the Goukamma reserve is overfished and stocks have dwindled to almost nothing, where it was a very lucrative area.I do think the Parks should close the Goukamma area for the next five years or more and we will see a rise in fish stock once more.

Ja wat...would also like to try the Huisklip area, so please post your findings when you go thattaway - it will be nice to see pics of the area.

Tight ones.
:)
