I've been looking at purchasing the 18g sprat spoons, blue sardine, pink and red head for my deep sea trip to rocky bay.
I want to use these lures to target bonnies or maybe snoek?

Has anyone used them and do they work?

Those bite me lures do work, we recently used them at Inhaca and caught kings, rockcod, jobfish and bonnies on them.

Hi

Snoek usually aren't that fussy and the small size should klap snoek.

When they have been feeding on anchovy and are not holding under the boat but moving then the more realistic "match the hatch" size and colour should work.

I have been less lucky with yellowtail but they are addicted to pink.

The theory behind a gamefish following a lure and backing off at the last minute might be because they have low and high resolution vision and can switch between both.

When they are tracking the shoal they use the low res. (Maybe so that they aren't as easliy fooled by the swirling of all the individuals.) Once they are about to hit they switch to high resolution.

I am not sure how this works or where it was published.

Use any colour as long as it's Pink or Purple.
