That leerie plug has accounted for 2 leeries here, a tarpon lost and countless jacks and garfish. The bulk of my fish here are caught on CID couta casting spoons as they are what I use. Good distance in casts means covering more water and covering more fish turf. We even use the CID bullet #1 with the hook moved to the top point and vertical jig it for red fish that look like soldiers. A good lure that in this application. I have had a lot of hook ups and chases on the surface plugs, and not much beats seeing the bite, but I get more with the couta casting as I choose to use them more. There are generally two of us fishing and my friend uses the chisel nose plug exclusively and I get generally more fish.

Nice fish there zamarlin, especially the Tropical AJ off the beach. I see that there are also pink prawn in the surf there like we used to get in Senegal. You should take a prawn pump with just to check them out, they are really big prawns.

Zamarlin,

Yep there are huge pink prawns in the surf in Senegal and the holes looked just like the ones in you pics. We used to pump them and the locals could not believe that the prawns were there.

Your pictures show a sand prawn or as they call them in Durban, crackers. Pink prawn you get in 200 - 400 mtrs of water with a deep water trawl. You had me scheming something totally different there... The thought of pumping them never occured to me and thanks for the idea.

This jack took 70 minutes to get to the beach. Very happy I chose to use the 30 lb braid spool and not the 17 lb.
