My new project starts (3rd time) to build a boat for spinning and fly fishing for Tigers, Bass, Estuary and Inshore.
I am starting with an empty Ace Cat 666 (22ft) hull.

Here with my Layout Design and the commencement of the project

Are you planing to fit a second raised steering station?

Not sure how much site casting you guys do up the coast, but here in Cape Town a raised steering position is a big advantage when sight casting for yellowtail

No, am not going to put that on. The boat needs to be versatile.

I now have all my materials together, tomorrow we start with the transom and then onto the bulkheads.
Big job ahead, but am excited as it is all coming together and my dream is being realised.
Will post pics of the progress

Hi, how many guy's you plan yo fish of it? From what you have mentioned you are planning to do a lot of spinning. With the deck layout you will only be able to fish two guy's spinning, one front one back.

Other than that it looks interesting.

I like that wide square tunnel...it should sit open in the back, something very few of the Cape boats manage

Tell more about the 666

Is it the same family as the 550 but extended?

You should speak with Tammo Vink...he knows those boats

I don't know much about the 666 but the hull looks like it will make a great stable fishing platform and will have a very shallow draft. The keel strips are very wide and flat and as you say the tunnel wide and square.
The boat itself is big as it is almost 2.5m wide and 6.615 long. I have set the transom at 610mm but the gunnels are about 1000mm. I also like the large square nose as it makes a great casting platform and looks like it will divert wake away from the boat when on the plane when the wind blows. It is very solid and a great hull for the application I am going to use it for.

Please explain what you mean it should sit open at the back

The 2 x 18mm Marine ply sheets were epoxied together yesterday, today we epoxied them onto the boat, they are clamped whilst the epoxy cures. Hopefully tomorrow I can glass this in and cut the gussets and then insert the gussets and glass them in
