Can anyone tell me what the current level is like, I have heard that it has seriously dropped in the last week??

This could be the start of some hard times for some lodges?

Hi I see they haven't updated since last week:

I actually cancelled my trip for end Nov cause I dont have a 4x4 and dont want to spend allot of money and catch nothing.

There was a planned release of water from the dam in the last week or two, which I think was going to peak around now.

Water was released for downstream users to recreate annual flood.

Water level was already low to start with and the release was reduced, as far as I know.

Hi Guys

So what effect do you think the current low water levels will have on the fishing, we going down for the Jozini boat and angling clubs compo on the 26th of Oct.

Was there for the Jozini Boat and angling clubs comp late Oct, levels are LOW! the launch at the club camping grounds was quite tough with the water starting about 10-15m from the launch pad so its rocky and muddy, if it rains make sure u have a 4x4 or two around to help out in case.

Fishing was fairly good though, fished the gorge and caught a decent amount of fish, nothing to big though.

Just spent 2 days in Jozini, water has recovered slightly from the rain but not enough. The fishing is very good at the moment, we got lots of pulls and landed 11 with minimal effort, most in the 1.5kg range but got one of 2 and 2.2, fished mostly with sards but lost one on a copper/red toby spoon with crap hooks and had a few paddletails and curleys destroyed.
After just my third trip to Jozini I think I have sort of worked out how to fish for them - needle sharp hooks and BRAID!! Much better than mono - tried and tested!

We fished a few bays on the eastern(gorge) side of the main lake both north and south of the gorge entrance and the bite was very good, we did not fish hard at all but had plenty pulls. Speaking to local skippers it seems that the fish are all over in the shallow bays (2-4m) but if you want bigger fish then find deeper drop offs (7-9m)but you will get much less pulls.
